Parent Activities

Parents (6th October):
On behalf of our P.T.O, I would like to say a big ‘THANKYOU’ to all the parents who signed up for helping out with various school activities. I am sure as time goes on volunteers will be called upon by our P.T.O. reps.
If you have’nt signed up for volunteering and would still like to get involved please contact our P.T.O or Mr. Trevor directly, or you can leave a comment on this blog and we will reply promptly.
A reminder of some ways parents can contribute thier time this Academic Year:

Helpout with coaching, teaching a hobby or a sport 5. Help with organizing a school event 5. Getting involved with a School Fund Raiser 6. Read to student/s or listen to them reading 7. Chaperone a school field trip

This Academic year, one of our focus areas in the school is ‘Parental involvement’. Last year, we established our P.T.O and though small in numbers our P.T.O. members contributed their time by supporting us through W.A.S.C. accreditation, a collection for the Orphanage (name), Halloween, Fun Friday and assisting in the Library.
Research shows that parental involvement in a child’s education is one of the most important factors in raising student self esteem and academic achievement. Moreover, most experts agree that parental involvement should go beyond attendance at teacher conferences and other scheduled meetings. We realize, however that each of our families is unique – with its own priorities, needs, talents, and time constraints – and with all these considerations we aim to provide as many different kinds of opportunities for parental involvement as possible.
