Parent Academic Involvement: Parent Interests/Occupations
Firstly, I would just like to thank all the parents for coming last Thursday and Friday for our Orientation Days. If you were unable to attend, you can catch up with information by visiting these links on our website http://wells-school.com/?p=581 and http://wells-school.com/?p=649 .
As mentioned during the orientation, this year we want to take learning experiences outside of the four walls of the classroom. Last year during our ‘School Self Study’, one of the revealing areas for growth identified by our own teachers is a necessity for our students to have more engaging hands on activities planned into the curriculum. This year we are planning ‘Off-campus Learning Experience Trips’ (OLET) within a nearby radius, so Teachers and Students can leave school within their subject periods and be back in time for their other classes of equal importance.
We recognize that perhaps one of our most powerful teaching resources is our Parents. We know we have Parents from very diverse backgrounds, cultures and workplaces. It is our intention to open this wonderful learning opportunity for our students and likewise for parents to become more actively involved in their child’s education and on a larger scale the children of Wells International School.
How can (Wells 51) Parents help? Well we would like to know your occupation details and whether you can volunteer an hour to two hours of your time during the course of the Academic year to share an interest/ profession or to allow for students to come and visit your workplace.
